Why did the U.S. fund a lab in Wuhan? The funding was part of a larger grant that went to a New York-based nonprofit, EcoHealth Alliance. The alliance works in 30 countries, many in Asia, with the goal of trying to identify viruses in wildlife that might jump and infect humans, as coronaviruses are known to do.
