By default, the Start menu on Windows 10 opens to a size just enough to accommodate all pinned items. If you want to use the Start menu with a larger size, you can set it to open in full screen.
When fullscreen mode is on, the Start menu covers the entire screen and provides more space for you to pin apps as well as live tiles.

To open the Start menu in full screen mode, follow these steps:
Step 1: Open the Start menu then click the gear icon to access the Settings app of Windows 10.
Step 2: Next, click Personalization and then Start .
Step 3: In the Settings window of Start , search for ” Use Start full screen ” and drag the button to On mode as shown below.
Step 4: Now you just need to close the settings window and enjoy the Start menu in full screen mode.
When using the Start menu in full screen mode everything on the screen is covered. If you want to exit, just press Window s or the Esc button or click another open application in the Taskbar .
To disable the feature to open the Start menu full screen, just follow the instructions above but drag the button ” Use Start full screen ” to Off mode.
