TURBE BAIR
An object with a landmark status is located in the vicinity of
the Upper town – Turbe – a doomed burial site (mausoleum) of Hasan
Kaimija.
He was borne in the first half of the 17th century in Sarajevo.
After schooling, he went to Sofia, where he was a sheikh of a
Moslem monastery (Tekija). He was a prominent poet, but also a
folk tribune during the rebellion of the Moslem poor against the
rich in Sarajevo in 1682. When the rebellion was put down Kamija
was banished to Zvornik. He wrote in Serbo – Croatian and Turkish
language about different areas too. His capital works “Varidat”
(astronomy and astrology) and “Osvojene kandije” (history).
Turbe does not have any architectural value, but along with Kamija’s
tomb, there are several levhas (calligraphy texts), Dervish equipment,
mace, two axes, flags etc.
KUŠLAT MOSQUE
There are stone remains of a mosque in Kušlat, which are inaccessible
because of the terrain.
MOSQUE IN BEGSUJA
The
Mosque in Begsuja was built 1770. It was renewed in 2002 – 2004.

JEWISH SYNAGOGUE
The Synagogue was built out of donations from the Jews who lived
in Zvornik and surrounding area in 1902. It is located in Serbian
Town on the right bank of Zlatica, opposite the building of the
Medical Centre. After the Second World War, it was bought by Todoran
Jovo, and adapted into a residential object.
A nice Jewish cemetery was located at the exit of Zvornik, between
Vidakova njiva and Meterize. It is neglected at present-day.
According to the population listing from 1910, there were 148
Jews living in Zvornik and 175 in the Zvornik district. Notable
Jewish families in Zvornik were: Bararon, Gracijani, Kraus, Levi,
and Hajon. Elder Zvornik inhabitants remember with great pleasure
bread loafs, croissants, muffins and other rolls made by famous
town Jewish baker Herman Ginsberg, whose bakery was located near
the market – place.
